the Bermuda International Town Crier Competition
Co-hosted by The Town of St. George and the City of Ham- ilton in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the twinning between Lyme Regis and St. George’s, the 2017 Bermuda
International Town Crier Competition was held April 19 through 21.
Hailing from the US, UK and Canada, 16 town criers took part in the
three-day event which featured the St. George’s Cry in King’s Square,
St. George’s, the Hamilton Cry held on the City Hall steps and the
finals which took place at Bob Burns Park in St. George’s. The overall
winner was Mark Wylie from Calne, UK, while Christopher Whyman
from Kingston, Ontario was first runner-up and David Mckee from the
City of Brantford, Ontario took second runner up. Whyman was also
voted the Best Dressed Crier and Daniel Richer Dit Fleche and Lady
Julia Dudley from the National Capital Region of Ottawa-Gatineau,
Canada, won Best Dressed Couple.
